Recovery Day celebrates freedom from addiction on Saturday, September 30, 2017!
The Lancaster County Recovery Alliance (LCRA) is the sponsor of Recovery Day,
an annual gathering of people recovering from drug and alcohol and other addictions,
as well as their friends, family members and allies, including helping professionals.
This festive, family friendly event is Saturday, September 30, at Buchanan Park.
Registration and sign making for the walk will begin at 10 am.
Mistress of ceremonies will be Jodi Holland, executive director of The Gate House and a long-time advocate of recovery, who will introduce the guest speaker.
The 1.5 mile walk around Franklin and Marshall campus will begin at 11 am.
A Hess’ BBQ lunch will be served 11:45 am to 1:45 pm.
The day will wrap up at 2:45 pm with Lancaster County’s largest Serenity Circle.
Scott Theurer, chairperson of LCRA, says the day is designed to celebrate people in recovery and to provide hope
to those living with active addiction. “This day peels back the misconceptions and stereotypes of what it means
to deal with and survive addiction. It shows that treatment does work and recovery does take place,” says Theurer.
“It shows a freedom in people’s faces created by hope and expressed in joy because despite every possible deterrent,
recovery has taken place and we are truly alive. We are a vibrant, living part of our community,
and the day is about celebrating that with our neighbors.”
Tickets for the all-day event,
which includes the lunch buffet,
are $5 & can be bought at the gate
or pre-purchased here.
In addition, a variety of activities are planned throughout the day:
